To have our very own Obama.first we need to have the structural changes like..
* cadidate should be selected democratically instead of party-bosses chosing them.
*funding sources should be made public.
*election budget should be made
*PM candidates should have open debates..
and as ours is a representative form of democracy.. in my view it has an inherent flaw which was very much evident in the recent karnataka elections whr congress actually got more votes than BJP but far fewer seats..
so to expect an obama moment would be i guess expecting too much that too in the midst of national crises of terrorism, economic slowdown and hate speeches..
to amend all these we need to get constitution ammende..use our power of PIL..but all these will take time..
for the time being, as we are on the verge of national elections the least we can do is GO and vote with doing our homework of selecting the right candidate.. if u r not satisfied then use 49-O.. but dont sell or let ur vote be wasted..
It's been a long time since we have been watching this dirt game of politics. Hopes shattered, promises broken and what not done in the name of getting votes. I have noticed this carefully since I was a child, people support parties and not the candidates. This is the foolish thing we people do, giving our precious vote to some party even if a jerk is contesting the election from our favourite party. This favourism defeats the whole purpose of choosing the right candidate who'd represent us. I don't know why we support party and not the candidate. Half of the voters don't even know the names of the candidate they would vote for. It's time we should stop cribbing about corruption, bad governance, poor legal system. We have the power to cast the vote... America brought a change by electing the first Afro-American President.... Why Can't we... YES WE CAN
Remember vote is an important tool to choose your future, your country's future. Vote carefully and choose the right candidate, don't go for the party.. Use your right, don't forget to vote cuz.. every vote counts.. :)
